about
The original melody for this song came to me while I was showering a few days after a pretty toxic, messy, long, and drawn-out breakup. Instead of feeling overwhelmingly sad about losing this romantic figure, I was more relieved that I didn't have to spend my time anxiously pacing back and forth wondering if "today is gonna be the day it ends" or not.
That fateful shower blossomed an idea that wrote itself pretty quickly (I think over the course of a few days) and a LONG time being recorded. I wanted to get this song as close to how it sounded in my head as I could. After a long time of this one sitting in the vault and being so used to having this song around, I realized the next step was to release it.
It was a bit weird to come to that realization since this is what I consider to be my first "proper" song to be released (I look at the 2019 version of "The Siren Song" more as a demo that found its way to streaming service) so I had to get into the mindset of "okay Miles, this is what releasing music is like" and get used to not being able to work on a song anymore. With that being said, I'm well past having to come to terms with that and I'm beyond excited to have this track out into the world. If you're reading this, thank you for reading and I hope you like the song :)

LYRICS:
OH!
(bird is the word) OHH!
Let's take a look at what you've done to me
I feel so trapped 'cause you're not letting me breathe
And I'm losing sleep (haha)
Over again we follow the same mistakes
And that's a risk that I'm not willing to take
Just give me a break
What do you want me to tell you? I just cannot forget
The worst of me's the best, and that's all you're gonna get
I'm not gonna take back what I said 'cause it's something I meant
The worst of me's the best and that's all you're gonna geeeEEeEEETTTT
OKAY
I don't know what snapped, but this is how I feel
About the things I told myself weren't real
And I know that it's not ideal
And I'm getting tired of the same old, same old
I miss the days before you got so cold
And it's getting old
But what do you want me to tell you? I just cannot forget
The worst of me's the best, and that's all you're gonna get
I'm not gonna take back what I said 'cause it's something I meant
The worst of me's the best and that's all you're gonna geeeeaaaAAAHHHOH
What do you want me to tell you? I just cannot forget
The worst of me's the best, and that's all you're gonna get
I'm not gonna take back what I said 'cause it's something I meant
GAH (gah gah gah gah)
The worst of me's the best and that's all you're gonna get
The worst of me's the best and that's all you're gonna get
(Boom!)
(Ska-boom!)

This is an album that changed my life. I was very much into trying to become an artist, but when I saw Will Toledo's DIY approach, I knew this was what I wanted to do. Listen to this mind-blowing LP. Smilley
Dallon Weekes is my biggest inspiration when it comes to music. The first time I heard this album I knew there was something really special about it. Since then this album has never gotten old for me Smilley
